DREAMFUL

     CHAPTER:29

...Two weeks since any updates from the pageant, what was it? A fake beauty pageant that only held the first two rounds, printed your oh-so-glam pictures in the newspapers, and then abandoned you? She was getting bored, day by day, hour by hour, minute-by-minute, second-by-

"Mom, Rylee is back in town, she called me over to meet, I'll see you then, bye!"

"Dez, Ivy is coming over, right?"

"She is, mom, but that won't be before 5, I'll return before, promise!", she said and went out of her apartment. Her sister's disagreement with her fiancé continued and though she appeared to be smiling in front of her, deep inside she was being hurt, Destiny knew it. She knew this stupid feeling which emerged when you go through fights with your boyfriend or even a breakup. Destiny went toward her bike and started toward the 'Roselle Cafe', they had decided to meet up. Rylee was already there, on her phone, talking and smiling, she waved toward Destiny, motioning her to take a seat.

" I know!", she said with another laugh. Destiny noticed that she had been in a much better mood after now than she had been couple of weeks back. She was a bit tanned, for sure, but it only made her appearance more pretty, her apple-cut hair, still died pink at the bottom, however, they were no more hot pink, the color had faded itself to a very pastel version of pink.

"I'll talk to you later, bye!", she said and hung up. It was possibly Rylee's boyfriend. She always had this smile and level of glow after she hung up talking to him. She hugged Destiny as if she was a long-met friend.

" How has everything been? I saw you on the T.V, in the newspaper, Dez, you're doing amazing, sorry I couldn't call you then, you know, was packing for this trip of mine!"

" Thanks but it now seems like a big pause that has entered my life, almost a big comma, there are no updates since the photography session that we did."

" Oh yes, they do take up their own time, I know, nothing to worry about!", she replied.

" I almost feel like I'm being ghosted. By the way, how are things at your end? You seem so happy after that mini-vacation you took!"

" I am very much back to being the Rylee I have always been which is a plus point apart from being tanned because I spent too much time on the beach. ", she said, inspecting her arms.

" And also your pink highlights! They are a shade lighter."

" Four shades lighter!", Rylee corrected with a laugh. After which the girls sipped coffee, chit-chatting over fashion news, new couples in town, the latest trends, and the finest jewelry. It was 4:45 and Dez almost lost track of time.

" Will need to go, Rylee, there's my friend coming home at five. It was wonderful meeting you after this long". Rylee smiled,

" Thanks for coming! Had such a fun time with you, call me when any new updates arrive okay?", with that the girls parted. Destiny rode back home and waited for Ivy.5..., 5:10, 5:15, she was starting to hate Ivy's new work schedule. Destiny picked up her comb and looked at the reflection in the mirror. She was dressed in an oversized yellow tee( the one that she wore nowhere but at home) along with blue denim. Very sporty. It had been days, even months since she had sung, one of her hobbies that remained up to her and her family. She started singing ' Perfect ', one of her favorite songs, pretending that the comb was her mic.

" I found a love for me...", she started. By the time there was a bell on the door, she was halfway through the song.

" I'll check the door!", Destiny said and ran to get the door. No soul visited the Deckers' except relatives ( very rare, only in festive seasons) and Destiny's best friend Ivanna. Dez was still singing, comb in her hand while she opened the door singing,

" I don't deserve this..., she sang,..." you look...perfect.", she sang, finally opening it, comb still in her hands.

" Umm, Hi...", he said, with his gorgeous smile. Destiny went through a mini-heart attack before slamming the door right in his face. Breathe in...breath out... breath in.... breath out....

"Dez, who's at the door?!",her mother asked. Unable to speak, 'did i just call him perfect? Or wait, hold on, it was just the song, right? I was singing in my pathetic-".

TING!, the bell went again. This person had no patience. She threw the comb on the sofa and opened the door.

"I didn't invite you!", she whispered, looking inside. Edwin was wearing a white shirt which fitted his muscular body way too precisely with black distressed denim.

"DEZ! WHO IS AT THE DOOR?"

He smiled and held out Destiny's bike keys from his pocket.

"No way!", she snapped. "Give me this!-"

Mrs. Decker finally appeared at the door.

"Destiny..? Edwin, aren't you?! Please come in!", she said, shooing Destiny out of the way.

"Evening, Mrs. Decker!", he said, stepping just one step in.

"I just came by to return Destiny her bike keys,", he said, wobbling the keys in the air.

"Here.", he said, giving them to Destiny, "I think you forgot them."

"Thank...you..."
