                             COLLEGE DIARIES
                              EPISODE :47

...That night I texted Ethan 'Happy Birthday' at exactly midnight and after that even tried calling him but his phone was engaged. The next morning, I was grocery shopping when I saw a newly opened book store. I decided to check it out and I am glad I did because I got the most amazing gift idea for Ethan's birthday! It was a newly released copy of 'The Puppets, part 2'...I mean for someone who has read part 1, he must be eagerly waiting for the second part. So, I bought the book, and to date, I call it the 'Last-minute gift'.I had texted Sophie the previous day to be present at the party and she was kind enough to come much much earlier to help me out. At about seven in the evening, there was a bell at the door and I was preparing the dessert so I asked Lucy to go for the door when she said,

"You should go and open the door, give I'll complete the rest of the dessert.", with the stupidest smile. When I opened the door, there he was...he was wearing a navy blue colored bomber jacket which looked pretty cool to me. I guess I was supposed to say, "Happy Birthday Ethan!", but what came out instead was,

"It's not cold at all...why are you wearing a jacket?!", I joked.

"That's my dialogue!!!", he laughed. Before he even entered the house, everyone shouted him happy birthday from behind me. And then there was me,

"Happy Birthday Ethan!"

"Thank you so much, Daisy!", he said with a wonderful grin.

"Are you planning to take him inside or not?", said Lucy which made everyone excluding me crack up.

"Oh! Yeah, sure...I am sorry...come in!"

"Thanks!", he said coming in. I had prepared three dishes in total with the help of Lucy and Sophie of course. The main menu was soba noodles with meatballs since it was his favorite and the second dish was tater tots along with some macaroni. Lucy had prepared a wonderful cake with '21' written on top of it. As I was arranging the table for dinner, I overheard Ethan talking on his phone and what I heard made me feel a bit...I don't know...it was like I couldn't quite believe my ears...he was talking to one of his friends I believe and he said,

"Dude!!! Whiskey for sure!". I looked at Sophie and Lucy to see their reaction but they were busy talking and laughing that they didn't seem to notice. I looked at grandma who was reading a book and she didn't seem to notice as well.

"Kay! Talk to ya later!", he said and kept the phone. While we were eating, Ethan said,

"Thank you Daisy for cooking all this wonderful and delicious food...it genuinely means a lot...and thank you to you too Lucy and Sophie..!"

"I don't deserve the tiniest bit thanks...all I have done is just give Daisy all the ingredients she asked from the shelves!", Sophie laughed.

"That still counts!", I said.

"Lucy, you went wrong with the number 2...it was supposed to be 7, you know?", I joked when it was finally time for the cake cutting. Only later did I realize that it was a joke which only Ethan and I understood. Everyone except Ethan looked at me like I was some kind of crazy person. I gave him the gift later and it made him happy which made me happy as well, the fact that I chose a gift he liked. When he was about to leave, I said,

"What about the relatives and friends you invited today? I am sorry my plans ruined your party..."

"No, they didn't! I have those kinds of parties every year, I am tired of them...in fact, I am lucky to escape that party this time! This year was something new and interesting...Thanks for everything!", he said with a smile.
