                              EPISODE:48

  

         ...On Tuesday, I got another creepy text which read,

"You think this is all a joke? ...Great disasters take time...wait and watch". Trouble was, I undoubtedly thought it to be a joke and decided to ignore it. 'If anything would have happened...it would have happened till now...and how can someone ruin my life? Whatever!', I thought at the back of my mind only to realize later that it was a big, big mistake.

 I get the biggest surprises of my life when I turn around and mind you! Surprises can be very good or very bad. The next day, I locked up my bike at the college bike stand and turned. I saw Ethan standing a distance away with two of his friends and what I saw...I couldn't believe my eyes...Ethan was smoking. He was smoking a cigarette. At first glance, I thought my eyes were playing a joke but then I realized that no, this is for real. I went up to him without a second thought and I didn't least bother about his friends listening or whatever.

"What are you doing, Ethan?!!!".He was pretty casual regarding it.

"Reducing some life stress?"

"Why are you-I-", my mind was out of words.

"You know what this is?!", I asked trying to gather words.

"Sure...It's a cigarette."

"I know that! I am asking you whether you know what can it do to you!?".He didn't seem to bother and looking at him was driving me mad.

"You know what? Talk to me when you come back to your good senses!", I said and walked away. He did try to stop me but I didn't care. My anger was at a whole lot another level. 'Why do I have to be angry about him!!!', I thought to myself which only made me angrier. I found Sophie standing in the hallway, on her phone.

"Sophie, you know what?"

"What?", she asked.

"I saw Ethan smoking with my own real eyes". She gave me a look which meant I was a crazy person.

"So?", she asked super casually.

"Sophie, I saw him smoking a cigarette, I heard him talking about whiskey the other day, I don't know if he does drugs and all you've got to say is 'So'!!!?"

"I've seen him smoking a bunch of times before..."

"And you never bothered to tell me? Fine, just don't tell me any of it, okay?", I said. Talking to Sophie made me ten times angrier than I already was. I turned around and started walking to my class.

"Daisy! Wait a second!", Sophie said, hurrying up beside me.

"No, you can be as casual as you want to be", I said, still walking.

"Listen, Daisy please"

"What!?"

"You need to have an understanding, Daisy...".I stopped, she continued,

"We both know what kind of environment he lives in and brought up in...and it's usually habitual for them to smoke or drink. And does not everyone have bad habits? Or is anyone perfect?". I looked at her.

"He's definitely a nice person, isn't he?", she asked. "Then you don't have to be so mad about it...just talk to him and tell him whatever you want to and I'm sure he will give up that habit for you!", she completed with a smile. He was waiting outside our campus during the break.

"I am very sorry...I've been stupid this morning...", he said, looking down.

"Since how long do you smoke?", I asked.

"Three years maybe..."

"And I heard you talking about alcohol if I am not wrong?". He looked embarrassed.

"I am sorry..."

"You really drink! What about drugs?!!!"

"No! I do take alcohol but only sometimes...whenever we celebrate...and no, I don't do drugs...", he said, looking at me.

"Ethan, you know what? Daisy is not a very big fan of people who smoke...", said Sophie.

"Fine, I won't."

"Or who drink...", she said again.

"I'll try I won't..."

"You promise?", I asked looking at him. He thought,

"I promise."

"And what if you break your promise when I'm not around?"

"You can trust me by now!", he answered with a smile.
