COLLEGE DIARIES

                  EPISODE:83

...Throughout the week, Ethan and Sophie always seemed to be in deep discussions and whenever they saw me coming, they stopped speaking. I mean initially, it was okay. But gradually, it was making me feel something...it was making me...okay, let's just say it.Envious.Envious of their 'secret talks'.I wanted to slap myself for my jealousy, trust me. And it was not like they didn't speak to me or anything. They did, of course. But the fact that I wasn't a part of the secret was killing me, that's all. Anyway, as I entered the cafeteria that day, I saw neither Ethan and Sophie.'Great. First, they hide a secret from me and now they leave me alone. What kind of friends!!!', I thought to myself as I took my usual seat. From behind me, I heard Pete call out my name,

"Daisy?"

"Hey!", I said. I used to be super pissed off with him but ever since he saved my life and conveyed his true feelings, he has my mind changed for him.

"Have a seat.", I said, gesturing towards the empty seat in front of me.

"Where are your friends?", he questioned to which I just shrugged my shoulders.

"I just wanted to tell you congratulations", he said smiling.

"Oh, for what?"

"Of course for the newspaper article!!! Last two days I thought of talking to you but you would be busy speaking to 'someone else'!", he said, stressing the word 'someone else' in particular.

'Thank you!", I said, ignoring the emphasized word.

"And I never knew that you are a black belt-", Pete started but then he abruptly stopped when he looked behind me. He got up and said,

"I think I should be going...see ya around!".That was awkward! I looked behind myself to see who it was that he left his sentence unfinished and saw Ethan standing a distance away, texting on his phone. He was wearing gold-rimmed spectacles, the same one he wore a few months back with a denim shirt with sleeves rolled till the elbow. Our eyes met and I quickly looked ahead and started pretending to be busy on my phone.

"Hi!", he said, when he came ahead and took the chair.

"Hello...where's Sophie?"

"I don't know."

"Great, you guys have left me alone now, haven't you?", I said, folding my hands. He removed his glasses, his brown eyes filled with humor and charm,

"You are not alone but, are you?"

"Of course, I was!"

"Oh...I thought you were busy talking to a friend?", he said with a smile. I opened my mouth to argue but then what was even left to say? I always thought I was the argument queen and I always, always, always won any argument until...I met Ethan Jones.

"No answers?", he said laughing. I started eating my lunch without looking at him,

"Can we change the topic? How's party prep at home?"

"All going well!", he replied. Sophie came out of nowhere,

"Now, where were you?", I asked.

"I was at the library.", she said, taking the chair beside me.

"Stop kidding me. You and the library? Is that even possible?"

"Well, I was! I'll show you the book I just borrowed if you don't believe me?", she said, starting to open her backpack. I stopped her by holding her hand,

"No problem...I do believe you."
