Dreamful
DREAMFUL
CHAPTER:35
...'This is not the time to cry, Dez, come on!', her heart told her as she started knocking on random doors in the hallway. Some doors didn't open at all, some had loud music on, and some simply refused of owning a pair of shoes. It was all futile. Ten minutes for her turn to arrive, no shoes and she was begging for shoes, that's what she was doing. Destiny was about to turn her back, go to her room, pack her bag, get out of there, go home-
A door behind her opened revealing an almond-eyed girl. Whether she was truly almond-eyed or was it the makeup...Destiny had no time to decide. Dez took one look at her and glanced at the door name tag- 'CORAL ELLIS'.
"Hi, I'm Coral, you look worried?"
"Hello Coral! There is hardly any time left for me to go up on stage and I have no sandals.", Dez said hurriedly, looking toward the stage and back at her. She was panting like a dog. Coral gave her a confused look but listened patiently.
"Could I please, please borrow yours, if you have an extra pair!". Coral ran back to her room and came back with a pair of gold Dior stilettos, she sat down and began helping Destiny in the sandals.
"Oops! They don't fit! They are too small for you!", Coral said with a frown. Destiny shut her eyes close. She wanted herself to disappear out of that hallway. Wanted to believe this was all a nightmare.
"THAT WAS AN AMAZING PERFORMANCE!", the loudspeakers went on, "NEXT UP IS MISS. DESTINY DECKER!", the voice continued. Coral's eyes widened looking at Destiny
"I'm gone. I'm gone, everything is ruined, how do I go up- "
"Hold on!", Coral said and ran to another room labeled, "HANNAH ELLIS". She came back with a pair of green heeled sandals, they were nowhere as pretty as the gold ones and they were GREEN. Not even a light, subtle, blushy green that would have at some point matched Destiny's dress, they were dark green.
"MISS DESTINY DECKER?", the loudspeaker went on again. Destiny slipped her feet in those and they fitted her perfectly. They didn't even match Destiny's powder blue dress and definitely looked out of place but she couldn't go barefoot on the ramp.
"I know they are ugly, that's my sister's pathetic choice but they fit! I'm sorry these are the only ones I could present!"
"MISS DESTINY DECKER!?", the loudspeaker went again, third time, the voice sounding quite annoyed. Destiny hurried her way toward the stage, touching her necklace on the way, trying her best to not fall while running, trying to change the panic look on her face to a more professional-glam-model-look, trying to remember the poetry she was going to recite up there. It was too difficult and all Destiny wanted to do was disappear. She caught sight of Stephanie near the stage who looked at her sandals and laughed. She actually laughed covering her mouth and looking away.
"MISS DES-".Too embarrassing. There she appeared before the loudspeaker blurted out her name for the fourth time. Stage lights fell on her and for once did she not close her eyes. Cameras were positioned toward her and she heard clicks, though not sure where the camera people were. She maintained a professional look on her face, slightly smiling, only she knew how she was smiling. Thanks to Rylee Smith, they had practiced together how to work out such circumstances once sometime back. Only Andy Williams sat among the judges, there was no sight of Edwin or Ryan which Dez thought is a good thing. Andy was the most senior and of course, the fashion stylist of their core team. She certainly did look irritated but tried hiding it.
"So, Miss. Destiny. What do you have in store for our audience ?", she said, in her very professional tone after looking at Destiny from head to toe and jumping a little toward the end. Of course, the green sandals were something so out of place and so non-professional.
"Since I write poems...just thoughts of my life I like to compile, keep with myself, I'd like to present one of those but in no way do I consider myself to be a poetess...".DAMN. What was she saying?!!! Was that last sentence even required!? Andy nodded and Destiny started. Just as she had practiced for days, leveling up and leveling down the pitch of her voice as the sentences and words needed her to. The poetry was not a recent one though, she had written it after her breakup with Jason. But it wasn't a sad-cry-me-out kind of poetry, it was the opposite. The last sentences went on like this:
"And life gives you what you deserve,
for you to cherish, tender and preserve..."
"THANK YOU.", she said and walked back. And she heaved the biggest sigh of relief once she was out of sight of those cameras. She removed the heels and walked barefoot toward the hallway.
"Did you seriously WRITE that poetry?!", Coral squealed, clasping both her hands together. Destiny noticed Coral's features 'actually' this time. She was a little chubby which made her appearance prettier and yes, she did have pretty almond eyes which were lined with pink winged-eye liner. Her blonde hair was put up in a bun. Destiny smiled and nodded, returning her the pair of heels.
"This my sister, meet Hannah.", she said, pointing toward another girl who had the same eyes as Coral's, though she wasn't chubby as her, she had copper highlights on her blonde hair.
"Hi, I'm Hannah Ellis. Nice meeting you Destiny! You write amazing poetry and yes! you are a poetess!"
"Thank you, Hannah, that's very sweet of you. And you both have saved me big time from almost being eliminated from the show! Thank you sooooo much for helping me out!", Destiny replied with a broad smile.
"Oh, it's no problem! I wish we could have offered something that looked prettier.", Coral said, raising an eyebrow at Hannah. Before they began fighting, Destiny jumped in and said,
"Who's the elder sister here?"
"We are twins!", Coral said smiling while Hannah read Destiny's confused look and continued,
"Unidentical ones, the only things we have in common are our eyes".
"That's good! Best of luck for your turns!"
"Thanks, you should treat yourself to some food and rest, you look tired Destiny.", Hannah said inspecting her face. Destiny nodded,
"Yes, that was a lot of last-minute ruckus,", Destiny said, eyeing the green heels and saying her goodbyes to the sisters. She proceeded toward the cafeteria of the hotel to get food after slipping back into her vans. Hannah had made her realize how hungry she was by mentioning 'treat' and 'food'. She grabbed some sandwiches and an energy drink and went back to her room.
