DREAMFUL

    CHAPTER:16

..."That's a unique theme they have selected for this year.", Rylee said when Destiny told her the theme for her ramp walk test.

"I was thinking of black-"

"No, no, no, not at all!", Rylee said, interrupting her and keeping the coffee mug on the table.

"Dez, if you would wear black-", she started to say when she was again interrupted by the ring of her phone. She looked at the screen and her eyes lit up as she smiled. It was someone whom Rylee hadn't named...just made three red hearts as a contact name which Destiny guessed must be her boyfriend.

"Just a second.", she said and went out of the room.'Probably her boyfriend...', Destiny thought to herself as she picked up the Vogue magazine kept on the table, and started turning the pages, though she had read that months' Vogue copy over two times.

"Please! Each time you want to go to that restaurant. I feel like you've run out of all the food joints in the city!", Dez could hear Rylee shout, though her voice was not very high, she could make out that Rylee was shouting. Then for a long time, about five minutes, there was no voice on Rylee's side but at last, she could hear Rylee giggle.'That's fast! From anger to laugh in just five minutes!', Destiny thought to herself.

"Love you too!", Rylee said into the phone as she came back to the room.

"Sorry to keep you waiting.", she said with a broad smile, her cheeks flushing.

"Its' no problem.", Destiny replied.

"Yeah, so where was I...", Rylee said and continued,"...oh yes! So, Dez, you know when the word 'BOLD' comes to your mind you automatically start thinking of black and smokey eyes and that kinda look, right?".Destiny nodded.

"That's where you'll go wrong because guess what? Everyone's gonna do that and trust me, you don't want to! You need to think of something out of the box...something no one could think of.", Rylee completed.

"I never thought that deep, Thanks, Rylee! So, if not black, what do you think about maybe a red?"

"Yes! That's something different, also, it's not only about how you dress, but also how you speak, and how 'boldly' you answer the questions they ask.".Destiny took a moment and let that sink in.

"Right...absolutely...what would I do without you?!", Destiny said and Rylee laughed,

"Rylee, I'd like to ask you a question, if you don't mind.", Dez said. Rylee raised her eyebrows and smiled,

"Go ahead."

"Why did you leave stardom behind? I mean you've got everything a model needs, up to the mark skills and everything, so why?".Rylee took a deep breath,

"So, you know I started when I was nineteen, your age. All I wanted to do in my life was model, walk the ramp...but my dad was totally against it. He always thought that I need not earn and that we already have a lot. Which was true...but then as I said, I always wanted to see the fashion world, so I somehow convinced my dad and then went ahead, did many projects, walked for many brands and everything, and I was going good...pretty well. But then, it became a routine and I kinda grew bored because I still wasn't able to work for big brands...and then there were these false allegations all around the industry of me, robbing a luxury brands bag which cost quite a lot and I was like...what?! Why would I rob when I myself can afford that particular bag without even earning?....", she said and looked at me.

"So, what did they say?", Dez asked.

"They claimed that I stole that purse just because I wasn't given a chance to work with that brand which is so stupid...and so I left...it was just making my life bad, my mental health bad...and people looked at me like I was a thief, so I just left.."

"That is indeed sad, Rylee...I feel so sorry.", Dez said in a low voice. Rylee shook her head,

"I never really talk to anyone about this but because you are going to that industry, I decided to tell you. At twenty, I wasn't confident enough to speak up for myself, but Dez, you have to! If anything like this happens with you, don't become a coward like me and just leave...just stay there and speak up! I left because I had other options...you can't."

"Did you come to know who exactly made these rumors?", Dez asked.

"There were a lot of girls who would look at me in jealousy and anger, but then who could I blame, right? But any which ways, I started my own line of clothing then and here I am, today, still running it!", Rylee said with a broad smile.

                                                      ************************

It was the day of the second audition and ramp walk test and Destiny could hardly breathe. She looked at her reflection in the mirror. She looked gorgeous in a knee-slit red shimmery gown which she had hired from a boutique, along with blow-dried hair, soft makeup, and black stilettos. Destiny touched the necklace she had worn, the only sign of her dad, and wished for the best. Thankfully, there was a pick-up-and-drop service from the pageant itself.
