Dreamful
DREAMFUL
CHAPTER:39
..."Your video just got a whole lot handsome", he said, running his hands through his so-brown hair. He was wearing a black tee-shirt that fitted him oh-so-perfectly. His hair was not styled but still looked super suave.
"Hello?", he said, snapping his fingers this time and that was the moment, the crazy moment she realized she was gawking...at him.
"Oh, hey, Edwin!"
"Who's photogenic, huh?", he asked, with a broad smile, playfulness, and tingle in his eyes which Destiny had quite never noticed before. She looked at Ivanna and Grace who slightly shrugged their shoulders in an attempt to say, "Told ya."
"By the way, who told you I was wearing black today?", he said, inspecting her look. She rolled her eyes and hid a smile.
"Who told YOU I'm wearing black today?! Copy cat!", Destiny said, pointing at him. He laughed.
"Grace! I've been meaning to try out that rollercoaster for the longest time, let's go? Dez? see you later, okay? We'll call you!", Ivanna said, throwing Dez a mischievous grin toward the end. 'Rollercoaster? Ivy? You wanna go ride a rollercoaster to die there?! Seriously? YOU HATE RIDES! THEY MAKE THEM SICK TO YOUR STOMACH!", Destiny wanted to scream but they both just went away leaving Dez there with Edwin. Great. Never bring distrustful company along!
"You said you'll come with friends?", Destiny questioned, as they started walking in a particular direction.
"I've come with friends, they're all scattered now though and I saw your sister from the game I was playing over there, so I came to look out for you!".
'Look out for me...', Dez thought as she continued walking.
"But you seemed so shocked after spotting me, almost like you saw a ghost.", he continued his talk.
'Was it that obvious? That I was gawking at him? But he does really look handsome.', one part of her mind said while the other part snapped, 'Shut up! shut up! shut up! He's the same as he always is!'. 'What's wrong with me today?', she thought as she bumped into someone because she was lost in her thoughts.
"Oh-oh! I'm absolutely sorry!", she said, backing off the girl whom she had bumped into. She was shorter than Destiny, much shorter than her though she was wearing heels and Destiny instantly recognized her. Jason Kelly's current girlfriend.
"Oh no, it's okay! Happens, no worries", she said, turning around, giving Destiny a gorgeous smile. She had pink gloss and subtle makeup put on and had come along with a group of girls who appeared to be of the same high status as her. 'Maybe if she knew who I was, circumstances would have been different...', Destiny thought as she quickly walked ahead.
"Destiny, are you alright today? Should I walk you?", Edwin asked, hurrying up beside her, offering his hand. And the stupid part of her brain actually wanted to hold it. NO. NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. MY MIND NEEDS TRAINING.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I just didn't see her...By the way cool bracelet! Where'd you get it from?", Destiny asked, pointing at a bracelet on Edwin's wrist which had an evil eye bead in the middle.
"Oh, this?! I was playing the claw machine a while ago and got it there. You need it more than me.", he said, side smiling at her as he took it off and gave it to Destiny,
"See if it fits". It didn't. Destiny's wrist was too thin compared to Edwin's for the bracelet to fit.
"Nah it doesn't.", she said, returning it.
"There are a lot of things this time in the claw machine that you'd like winning, wanna try?"
"I'd like winning, right! But I lose the claw machine every single time! Not to mention a lot of bucks as well". He smiled,
"Let's go try there at least?". And so they both made their way toward the claw machine. Destiny peered in through the glass and gosh, Edwin was right! There was A LOT of unique stuff this time. Ranging from chocolate bars and accessories to a wide range of stuffed animals. Destiny entered a coin as she gripped the handle, moving the claw around.
"What are you even trying to get?", Edwin asked after a minute when all Destiny did was move the claw all around.
"That necklace over there...Ahh, got it!.... Oh, no, no, no, no!!!!", she said as the claw first almost grabbed it but then she moved the handle a little bit, and there it was, among the other prizes again. Edwin laughed as he put another coin and gripped the handle. Not even a minute in and he had already grabbed the necklace and there it was, in his hands.
"You make it look so easy!", she said, her face impressed. He shrugged with a smile handing over the necklace to her,
"Thank you!", she said, pinning it around her neck.
"Ohh, it does look pretty...", she said, eyeing the swan pendant that hung from the chain.
"Sure thing, what doesn't on you?", he said, looking at her. She resisted the urge to roll her eyes and just smiled, as they walked ahead,
"So, when will the voting poll get started? And when will the pageant website be updated?", she said, mentioning the talent round they had done recently.
"You're excited, huh?"
"I'm nervous! This time it's the people judging us not Andy, Ryan, or you! What if they don't like me? Or my poem? Or the heels I was wearing? Mismatched!? What if-"
"Shh...! No what if's! To answer your question, it'll be updated soon! I'm working on the edits, Dez, give a day off to a poor boy.", he said, making a face. Destiny chuckled,
"Okay, okay! Alright!", she said looking at him when Ivanna's sentence rung in her mind again. 'my brain says that I've seen him somewhere...some years back...I just can't remember.' She knew she had seen him too, why couldn't she remember where? And how could she ask him? What would she ask him even? "Edwin, who exactly are you?", Thinking that Destiny realized that she didn't know anything about him except the fact that his name was Edwin Floyd, he was the creative director and one among the judges for the beauty pageant 'MISS PHOTOGENIC', he owned a car, he stayed somewhere in an apartment-on rent, that's all she knew.
"Let's go do the pendulum ride!", she said excitedly. And by pendulum ride, she was referring to the one which was extra large and spun round and round, did a 180-degree turn, and then landed back on the ground. He looked worried by her sentence,
"What? That terrible one that makes you feel like kicking yourself for getting on, I'm not coming-"
"Pleaseeeee", she said, making a puppy face, though she wanted to laugh out loud. He was scared, just like Ivanna.
"Destiny, look, we can go there and eat ice cream, we can go dance?", he said, worry still in his voice and eyes, making his appearance cute from handsome. Destiny smiled,
"You are just so afraid of it why don-"
"EDWIN! DUDE! HERE YOU ARE!", someone shouted from behind and Destiny turned around to find the same trio who had been looking at her previously, only, she could see them better now. The girl in the group was the shortest, wearing a grey hoodie with black shorts and she had shoes with wheels, one that allows you to roll around rather than walk, just like roller skates. Her light brown hair hung loosely over her shoulders and she was wearing a grey cap backward. She looked like a total tomboy and smiled as she approached them.
"Hey! How's it going?", Edwin said, walking a little toward them.
"Great, great! won a lot of stuff, see.", the boy with the bag said, lifting the paper bag a little.
"Cool dude!", he said then turning back to me,
"Destiny these are my friends, this is Aiden", he said, pointing to the guy with the paper bag, "this is Leo!", he said, pointing to another one who gave Destiny a little smile "and this is one the silliest is Mira...", he said, putting an arm around the tomboy-girls shoulder and she smiled at him. Destiny held her breath but the moment he did that, it was like she couldn't quite breathe as a wave of nausea and dizziness hit her head. And he could have sensed it, seen it, whatever, because he quickly retracted his arm.
"I'm Miranda.", she said, offering a handshake. So she wasn't the only one he had nicknames for. The roller-coasters of the fair were much smaller, much slower than the rollercoaster that was going around Destiny's heart, mind, body, and soul at that moment. What had happened to her all of a sudden?
"Destiny.", Destiny said, shaking her hand and managing a little smile. She saw no point in why she wasn't able to smile one of her dimple smiles, she had no clue why her lips weren't twitching broad for a nice, happy, greet-worthy smile.
"You look just as beautiful as you do on the ramp, seeing you, in reality, is luck!", Miranda said, continuing the conversation.
"Thanks, Miranda...", Destiny smiled, and she knew she was faking it. Since when did smiling become so difficult?
"Dez wanted to ride in the pendulum, Mira, maybe you can go along?", Edwin said, coming forward and standing beside her. 'I would just lose my mind if I don't run away right now'
"I ...really need to go...it's almost twelve and Ivy and Grace might be looking out for me.", Dez said, her voice sounding quite meek compared to what it had been minutes ago before Miranda came into frame. And she knew she didn't look like herself.
"Okay...wish you could have stayed it was fun hanging out..", he said and waved goodbye though he looked like he had so much more to say.
