DREAMFUL

    CHAPTER:45

..."Will you walk faster for goodness's sake? Or do you like me freaking out?", Destiny asked, as she was hurrying up, half walking, half jogging toward the building for her gig. Since there was no availability of parking lots near, they had to walk up a certain distance.

"Makes you look cute I'd say", he answered, looking into his phone and working on some charts, while walking.

"Fine, you walk at this stupid slow pace, I'm going!", she said, and walked away clattering her heels. 'Here I'm worried as hell about how my first ever gig will happen and he's just fooling around!', she thought, walking faster. She pushed open the glass entrance and stopped to turn around. No Edwin. She had expected him to follow her! She thought he was coming. Now how on Earth was she supposed to survive a gig she knew nothing about! Where was she supposed to-

"Miss...you either come in or walk out...the air conditioning is on.", the security guard at the gate said.Destiny glared at him before having a look one last time behind her.No, what was wrong with Edwin?! She dug in her hand purse for her mobile and opened the contacts, she typed in E-D-W, and then stopped midway.'If he doesn't want to help out, so be it.',she thought closing the contacts and opening her mail box, there she could find the information in detail.

Miss Destiny Decker, Congratulations on being selected for the commercial and promotion of our newest cosmetic product, S and T's long lasting eye liner gel!

Venue: S and T's headquarter, Avenue 4- third floor, hall A-6

Time: Starts 10:00 A.M.

Best of luck!, we are glad working with you!

'Third floor, hall A-6,alright,I got this!', she thought making her way toward the lift. When she got closer, she saw a neatly stuck sign on the lift-UNDER CONSTRUCTION, PLEASE USE THE STAIRS. Great! She rolled her eyes as she went ahead toward the staircase. What place was this? When she finally found hall A-6 after a lot of questioning, it was all empty! 'This is all because of Edwin, had he been here with me, I would have at least looked a little more confident!' .She hurried her way toward the reception at the third floor as she picked up the telephone to make an inquiry.

"Hello? Where would be the set up for the commercial arranged today? Destiny here..."

"Hello, Miss.Destiny, it's shifted to the ground floor, the last hall toward the right."

"Okay, thank-"

"And Miss? Sir is expecting you here,...please be quick, it's ten fifteen already...".DAMN,Destiny kept the phone bcak as she quickly hurried toward the lift.UNDER CONSTRUCTION, PLEASE USE THE STAIRS.Tut-tut-tut-tut!!! 'I'm already late and this!',she ran toward the staircase as she hurried her way down, heels clattering away with each step she took when on the second last step of the second floor, she let out a cry as she sat on the stair. Her ankle had twisted due to running, and it awfully hurt. She took the support of the splendid glass raling as she slowly got up.'The first thing I'm doing when seeing Edwin is hit him in the head with this heel'.It was a bit difficult to walk, but okay, she HAD to reach the freaking ground floor...and...and what room was that? Which hall toward where?! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!She made her way toward the ground floor, trying to recall what hall and where was the commercial supposed to be shot on, searching her way when a man in his sixties walked toward her, he was awfully thin and smoked a cigar,

"You must be Miss. Decker?". She nodded.

"Well, I'm Mr. Miller and it would be good if you could update your walking speed, maybe? Our stylists and makeup artists are on hire and we pay them by hour, I hope you understand this.", he said, indicating toward the hall where she needed to go. She nodded as she looked down making her way, a little faster, little did he know how hurt her ankle was? No, one heel needed to be hit on Edwin's head and one on Mr. Miller's. That would make these people come right back to their senses. She had seen models greet their managers on the T.V., practically running up to them in three inch high heels and here she was, walking at a snail's pace, that too looking down. She made her way in the styling room and it was resplendent! The stylists and the makeup artists were on their phones, some looked bored while some yawned. The room was splendid, the people? Not at all. They gave Destiny such boring vibes, she wanted to run away from there.

While the hairstylist did her hair, Destiny noticed a thin magazine like notebook kept on the table in front of her, a little toward the end, it had a plain white cover with sparkled all around, and looked like somebody's personal diary, only it was too thin to be a diary.

She looked at her refection in the mirror, they had a black knee length dress for her along with black smokey eyes and high french braid ponytail. Mr. Miller glared at her as she came out of the styling room,

"Fifteen minutes...fifteen minutes, we are late.".So the cigar-man was still whining about the same thing. Huh. Life. She was handed the eyeliner as she walked toward the camera set up, with the photographers and directors still watching.

"Okay! POSE ONE!",Mr.Miller shouted, cigar in his hand as the lightings went on and straight into Destiny's eyes, she squinted her eyes as she heard him make the sound of irritation.Okay, she had been in those huge lights but they weren't ever quite so near to her eyes.

"POSE ONE!",he shouted again, too loud this time and Destiny flinched as the photographers took position of their cameras and Destiny looked at them confused.

"What's the pose? I need clear instructions, please..",she managed to somehow choke out and regretting it once the words were out. Mr, Miller slapped his forehead, shaking his head and throwing away the cigar on the floor.

"YOU MISS.DESTINY MAY LEAVE!", he shouted. The photographers looked at her with pity as she got off the stage and as she was making her way out,he said again,

"We need professional models in this industry, not some girl who is unpunctual and unprofessional. You ask me what do you need to do after walking up the stage? What was the guide kept on your table for?! If you could have atleat opened it and read it while sitting for your makeup and hair, our shoot wouldn't have been cancelled today, Thanks for wasting our time though".Destiny fought back tears as she changed back into her own clothes and got out of the building. She jogged her way out, her ankle hurt, but it was fine as long as she could get out of here and go home.Seriously.First ever fashion gig and she had failed, miserably, humiliatingly! 'Why couldn't he stay with me there a while till I settled?',Destiny thought, still hurrying away. Her vision got blurry, she wasn't going to cry in public.NO NO NO!

"Hey!".Walk faster.

"Hey! The gig got over too early?",he asked, coming to jog beside her.Destiny walked faster while he kept up with her pace.

"Destiny?!"

"Dez? Hold on! Listen!",he was still jogging beside her.Her expression was neutral but her eyes held hurt and annoyance.

"You ain't going anywhere!",he said finally, blocking her path.Destiny glared at him while she decided to escape from his left.No luck there. From the right? No luck there as well.He stood there in front of her like a statue blocking her path.

"Go away."

"Not until you tell me what's wrong.".Destiny tried siding him away but he didn;t move an inch.

"Destiny what's-

"Edwin, I needed you there.",she said, atlast, a tear escaping her eye.

"But you left me alone to figure out what the hell is to be and what not to be done, to make a fool of myself...",she said as another tear rolled by.

"Destiny I-"

"I'm not Stephanie, Edwin. She knows all about how these fashion gigs are conducted and what's expected...she even knew how to walk the ramp perfectly from day one, but, Edwin, me? I'm just a regular girl who worked full-time at a mall, just a regular giel who binge watched the paegant, just a girl who dreamed, someone who needed guidance and so I thought I'd ask you but you just turned your back and walked away leaving me there to survive the confusion like you don't even know me...",a fresh tear already escaped her eye as she was still looking at him, her expression wasn't angry or annoyed, it was neutral.

"Dez, listen...",he said, his voice, so full of admiration,"I'll show you the way, each time, every time, I'll be there...I'll even wipe your tears, Dez...",he continued, moving up his arm toward her face and stopping midway, she nodded, as he wiped away a tear from Destiny's face and for the first time ever, she didn't jerk his hand away.

"...but I cannot walk the road with you every time, Dez....you have to do it on your own."
