Chapter 47

             DREAMFUL

               CHAPTER:47

...Destiny woke up, excited, the next day as she got ready in a blush pink top, along with flared jeans, side-parted her hair, and strapped on a pair of black stilettos. This had to be it! The beginning of her modeling dream wherein she got paid. She was on the bus when she got a text from Edwin, it was information about recent gigs in the city.

"I am on my way to a gig!:)", she texted him back.

"Which one? Send me the details!".Destiny took a picture of the visiting card, the red-haired lady had handed over to Dez and sent it to him. He took five minutes to reply.

"Dezz..."

"?"

"I just feel...this seems fishy.."

"Why?"

"Haven't heard the name of this agency before."

"So? "

"Dez, listen. I won't stop you from going as you are already on your way but if they ask you to sign any papers, don't do it, okay? Not before you thoroughly read every sentence of it, front and back, check-"

"Okay, Sir."

"And Dez?"

"Please take care. Good luck!"

She texted him back, keeping her phone in her jean pocket. Okay, sure, he's the creative head and all but isn't he being too suspicious about a simple agency, why? Just because their name isn't known to him!

Destiny stood there wondering whether she should even enter or not as Edwin's texts came back into her mind...' Dez, it seems fishy..." because:

 A. the place nowhere looked like an agency, there was a tiny door with a narrow space

B. What if Edwin would be right?

But Destiny shook her head in an attempt to forget the confusions. 'If you never go, you never know, let's do this.",she thought, taking a deep breath and stepping inside. As soon as she stepped in, she was greeted by a luxurious scent and the interiors were pretty good too. There were some people on the computers and a lady in the reception. As she stepped ahead to approach the reception, she was greeted by the red-haired lady,

"Oh!! Chef girl! You are here!", she said, coming near, extending her hand for a handshake.

"Uh, I'm Destiny.", she replied, shaking the extended hand and greeting the lady with a warm smile.

"Destiny, is it? Such a lovely name! Let's get to work then Shall we?"

"I thought there'd be an interview?", she questioned.

"Oh there was, there was! Interviews have been going on since the past week at our agency but we didn't find anyone as enchanting as you and hence!",..."Sam?! SAM!",she called out to a lady, "Please take her to the styling room!".Destiny, really confused now, walked with Sam who lead her inside the room and the red-haired lady followed.

"Have a seat!",she said as Dez took the nearest sofa.

"What would you like to have? Some juice?Fresh juice, tea-"

"Umm, nothing really, can we get to work?",Destiny replied. The red haired lady laughed as she patted Destiny's shoulder.

"See, this is why companies like us choose models like you who are super dedicated towards their work but health and food does come first, anyway, as you wish, Destiny, we will get to work".She gestured Sam as she went out and got a bunch of printed papers from the other room, handing it over to the red haired lady.

"Now, before we begin! I would like you to quickly sign these so that we can get straight to work."

"What are these for?",Destiny asked, taking the sheets as Edwin's statement ran clear in her head.

"A bond that you'll be working with us on this project?",the red haired lady said, passing Destiny the pen.She was so in a hurry to make her sign them.

"I will require time, I need to read these.".The redhead smiled,

"Girl! It's not needed but sure, go ahead!".And as Destiny was halfway through the sentences, she recalled what Rylee had once advised her,"Always, always, make them show you the outfit you will be wearing for the shoot before you sign any of their papers! You need to know what you will be wearing beforehand and Dez, it's honestly no big deal if you feel uncomfortable and don't like the dress, you can always say no and no one has the right to force you!"

"Can I see the outfit?",Destiny said, out of nowhere.

"Uh..what?",the red head replied, trying her best to hide the irritation.

"The outfit I'll be wearing for the shoot? Can I see it?".Th red head seemed confused,

"Sure, just a minute.",she said, running out of the room, her heels clanking, as she shouted Sam's name again. Two minutes later, she was back inside, again, with the same warm smile,

"Destiny, the dress is currently going through last touch-ups, you can see it once the hair and makeup are done, okay? For now, you can sign these and I'll call the hairsty-"

"I'm not signing any of these until I see the dress, ma'am",she replied, sternly.Red head shook her head and laughed a little,

"You girls-I see how excited you are to see the dress but we will get it done! In a really short period, till then, why don't you-".Destiny kept the stapled papers and the pen on the glass table.

"Ma'am, I really cannot continue into this, thankyou for your time but-"

"Okay, okay, okay, you want to see the dress? Come-"

"I want to see the dress.Right here.I'm not going to any other room.",Destiny said. Now, she could just feel the fishy vibe of the place altogether.Edwin was right, only if she had listened to him and gone back home. This lady was so firm on her decision to make Dez sign those papers anyhow, that was already a point which created an uncomfortable vibe.'Pretend you are tough, pretend you are tough, Dez, and you'll be okay!'

Red head, now a little irritated said,

"Why can't you wait? I didn't expect this impatience from you, Destiny. Sam, get the dress!", she shouted.

"Are you sure ma'am?Is she done sign-"

"I SAID GET THE DRESS.RIGHT NOW!", red head shouted again. Under a minute, the outfit was in front of her eyes and she gasped looking at it. Had she stupidly signed the papers, there would have been no way out. She would have been caught in a world of embarrassment and modeling for her would have turned to hell! It was so pathetic and now Destiny realized why nobody stepped into this agency and why the red head was so in need of someone, and hence she came to her.

"Is that...it?",Destiny asked, still maintaing her tough look, expecting the red head to say something like,"Oh, no, we do have an inner fabric and this piece of glitter goes over it!",instead, she annoyedly asked,

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, do we have an inner?".The red head shook her head, rubbing her forehead, and before she could say anything, Destiny guessed the answer,

"I can't do this, I'm sorry.", she said, approaching the door.

"WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU CAN WASTE PEOPLE'S TIME SO EASILY!", the red head shouted, her eyes wide. She was opposite of what she'd been the day before, she acted like venom. Destiny maintained her calm,

"I'm not comfortable with the outfit, I won't do the gig, as simple as that, and as far as the time waste is concerned, ma'am, you need to remember even my time is equally wasted."

"I DO NOT CARE ABOUT IT, in fact, you know what? If you are so picky regarding what and what not to wear, you'll never find a gig! We do not take such unprofessional to whom agencies and brands don't matter! And why has the Photogenic pageant even kept you yet! I HAVE NO CLUE!", she spat, leaving Destiny shocked. So, all this time, she knew Destiny was competing in the pageant. And if being professional according to the redhead meant wearing a sheer piece of fabric as an outfit for a shoot, then Destiny had no intentions of becoming a professional to her. Without another word, Destiny walked out of the narrow hallway and out the door. Cool, here went nothing.
