DREAMFUL

 CHAPTER:41

..."Destiny! YOU.SLAPPED.HIM? I. AM. SO. PERFECTLY.PROUD.OF.YOUUUUU!", Ivy squealed on the phone. Destiny was walking to get the bus to the Amsterdam golf club where the sports event by the pageant was organized.

"I...I don't know what happened to me but he was trying to touch me which I couldn't take."

"Miss? What would be the figure of speech for this sentence?", Dez heard a small voice on the other end which meant only one thing-Ivy was taking calls during lectures.

"Tut, tut, Ella? I told you that minute ago! It's a Simile! Listen and remember!.. So sorry, Dez, these kids-so yeah, back to the topic, what was his reaction?", Ivy asked. Destiny giggled,

"He was so-"

"And miss can you correct the test paper I-".Ivy sighed,

"Dez? I'm stuck with-I don't know what! I'll call you in an hour? Or would you be busy?"

"I'm at the event."

"Troubles, troubles, perfect troubles! At least you won't be bored there! See you later then, bye!", she said and hung up. As for her OOTD, she was wearing a pastel green skort along with a white tee and matching golf cap. She got off the bus and marched her way toward the club, and it was ENORMOUS, HUGE! Dez knew that there existed this place, just twenty minutes away from her apartment but she had never quite had the time, nor the reason to enter. The ground was huge though the entry gate was tiny. There stood a little boy, around the age of five at the entrance. He had light brown silky hair and the cutest eyes. And he was blocking the entrance.

"You cannot enter unless-", he said, as soon as Dez reached there.

"Unless?", Dez said, raising an eyebrow and sitting down, to match the kids' height.

"I have a riddle which you need to solve and if you cannot solve it, then you need to gimme a candy, that's the entry ticket.", he said, folding his hands.

"Riddle...hmm...ask me-but wait, I'm afraid I don't have any candies."

"Ummmmm....", the kid seemed to be lost in thought but then soon his eyes twinkled and said,

"Okay, I will let you in but you will have to buy me a candy from the store inside-"

"IF I fail to answer your riddle."

"YES.", the kid said.

"So the question is...what can run but can't walk?". 'What am I stuck with, honestly.'

"Hmmm..."

"You don't know the answer, I need a candy."

"No, absolutely not. I'm thinking!"

"Think quick!", the kid said. He was pretty smart for his age. Dez looked inside the lawn and saw a large crowd already gathered and here she was, having to deal with a kid to ENTER.

"I think the answer is...Cheetah?!".HAHAHAHA.

"No, that's the wrong answer, you have two more chances, I'm kind."

"No, you're a kid.", Dez hissed.

"I'm both.", the kid shrugged. "What's your second answer?".Dez made a face as she heard the announcements that were started inside. She didn't have all day!

"I'll give you candy, okay? Let me inside!"

"Okay! I'll wait!", the kid said happily as he proudly moved aside, making way for Destiny to enter, very happy about his win. Destiny quickly walked a few steps inside and then turned,

"Oh, what was the answer then?"

"Two candies?" .'Gosh, is he annoying!!!!!!'.But she needed to know the answer, the curiosity won't die unless. Helpless, she nodded,

"Okay! It's the river! It can't walk but it runs! Th river runs down the bridge!". Great. Just great. She lost to a kid, a five-year-old kid on a simple question. The excitement of the kid made her smile,

"You're clever!", she said and turned around to walk inside.

"Thanks! My dad says this as well!", he said, waving his arm in the air. Destiny glanced around the place, a normal golf lawn had been converted into a pageant vibes golf lawn, it was amazing! The balloons that were tied and the color combination which was used for the decor as well as the layout of benches and tables and the stalls belonging to various categories like food, juices, and merch was done beautifully. She saw girls dressed in cute dresses, heeled shoes, lots of makeup...it was as if they were ready for everything. And Dez was thirsty, so she decided to grab a lemonade before going any further. As she proceeded to walk further, her eyes landed on a table, and Coral, staring at a distance,

"Hey, Coral, good day?!", Destiny said, taking a seat beside her.

No reply. She was looking in a direction, holding a glass of lemonade, lost in thoughts.

"CORAL? HELLO?!", she said again, waving an arm in front of her face, causing her to startle and come back to her senses.

"Destiny? Hello!"

"Lost in thoughts?", Destiny questioned, tracing the direction of Coral's gaze. (she was still looking there)

"For sure. I'm jealous of that kid right there.", she said. Sure enough, there was Edwin, holding the hands of the same kid who had riddled Destiny, teaching him golf, playing with him, carrying him in his arms. Destiny's eyes returned to Coral. She was in no mood to talk.

"Edwin, is it?"

"He's sooo...overly cute, heartthrob, heart-melting...oh my gosh, did he just look here?!".Destiny knew all of this but she still didn't like Coral saying it.' What's going on with you Destiny', her mind snapped.

"STOP IT, CORAL, he's probably already taken.", chimed in a voice. Destiny's throat dried up, even though she had already had lemonade right then. She turned around to find Hannah. It was weird, her throat suddenly getting dried up...she had been in the scrunching heat for almost twenty minutes and she had still been okay...

"Hannah, hi!", Dez managed to say.

"Dez, what's up!"

"I just came here seeing Coral."

"I've told her like a dozen times...I've heard he's already in a relationship.", Destiny looked back at Edwin, he had his cap worn backward and was laughing with the little kid then.

"With whom?", Destiny asked, throat still dry, hating herself. 'So what? What's going on with my throat? What if he's taken?!!!'

"I don't know, there are rumors.", Hannah said, sipping her iced coffee. Coral narrowed her eyes to Hannah.

"Rumors, Hannah? Do you know the definition of the word 'Rumors'?".    'Excatlyyyy!'

"Sure I do. Dez, she's been gawking over him since the day she's seen him at the interview and I'm sure he noticed, soooo embarrassing, don't tell him you are my sister okay?". Dez just looked over at her. Coral ignored her comment and began,

"Gosh, look at him, Destiny, he looks so good with that kid, I mean isn't he-...", but her face went pale mid-sentence like someone's just hit her in the face.

"What?"

"WAIT. Wait, wait, wait!...whose kid is that?", she said, separating each word while speaking, absorbing her own words, trying to make sense of her statement.

Hannah who had gotten up from her chair, sat down again, taking a dramatic position resting her chin on both hands and taking a deep breath said,

"They are having such a lovely father-son time. "

Destiny felt her stomach tie up in knots, her heartbeat slowing down, her throat now felt like it needs gallons of water or she'll be dead. 'She's kidding, right? NO WAYYYY! Did I just lose a simple riddle to -NO, FALSE, NO NO NO NO NO!!!'...While Coral's eyes widened and she looked like she'll cry.

"That's...that's a lie right, Hannah?", Coral asked. Hannah laughed hysterically while Destiny looked at both of them and kept questioning her own mind which needed training, her stomach still felt ill.
