Dreamful
DREAMFUL
CHAPTER:42
...Hannah was in full mood to torture her sister, so she got up and walked away with another laugh leaving Coral open-mouthed on what she had just said,' They are having such a lovely father-son time". Coral was quick to follow Hannah while Destiny was left all by herself, throat dried up as hell. 'He would have told me if he had a child, right?', she thought to herself, but then again, why would he? He just 'spoke' to her and 'speaking' to someone is pretty normal then why would he-
"Hey, I need two candies! You lost the riddle!", a voice said, snapping Destiny out of her thoughts. She looked at him, he was cute-for sure, and now that she knew he was Edwin's, it made her cough, and this time she needed water-DESPERATELY.
"Ma'am would you need some water?", a waiter said, as Destiny nodded, still coughing. She took a look at the kid again, he had light brown hair, unlike Edwin's dark hair and his eyes were coffee brown.
"I said I need candies.", the kid said again, folding his hands this time. Bad parenting, tut-tut-tut, Destiny thought as she had finally, somehow stopped coughing and said,
"Go ask your 'dad' ", she said, annoyed, rolling her eyes, stressing the last word.
"I'm on three candies per week policy and well...I've already eaten three this week", the kid said. 'Good parenting...maybe?'
"What's your name?", Destiny questioned. He seemed impatient now and was shifting the golf ball from one arm to another.
"Austin. Now may I pleaseeeee have my-"
"So much for you to sit in the sun! Here's your water, Miss.", came a deep voice, and Destiny turned around, knowing to whom it belonged. Didn't he know 'he' was the reason for her stupid throat to dry up and not the scorching heat? He didn't. He really didn't. And he was pretending to be a waiter, looking stunning. She took the water from the tray and averted her gaze back to Austin. She didn't know what to speak to Edwin anymore. What was even left to speak? He had just fooled her and she still wasn't sure whether she was falling for him these last two days, or that it was just one of her stupid thoughts, she didn't know!
"MY CANDIES!"
"Shut up for once!"
"You're cheating!!!!!", the kid whined.
"Now, now, this is what happens when two kids meet.", Edwin said, taking a chair, besides Destiny. Was he for real? First, he goes around calling her cute and admiring her, talking oh-so-sweetly, then he doesn't introduce his own child, then he takes a seat right beside her!!!!
"I'm not a KID, I'm nineteen!", Destiny shouted, in his ear, he deserved the punishment for hiding this news. He covered his ears and smiled at her, the same smile he had used all along,
"Age is just a number!"
"SHUT UP, EDWIN AND JUST GO-", Dez began again when Stephanie showed up. She wore a pastel pink mini skirt, with a white-gold collared tee shirt tucked in. Her fine balayage hair in a ponytail and light pink makeup. God, did she look pretty, stunning-beautiful!!
"Hi, Edwin!, who's he? Hello!", she said, ignoring Destiny's existence altogether And the question was more out of fear than curiosity.
"Hi Stephanie.", Edwin said, meeting her eyes, getting up, all set to introduce his child.
"He's Austin, my friend's son, he loves sport, so I thought it'd be fun to bring him here while my friend is busy working as always!".
...
...
...
And what had she thought? She was thankful to Stephanie for asking him that question otherwise she would have never known and well, not spoken to him, avoided him which would not lead to well, whatever. Destiny was ashamed of herself for jumping to conclusions so quickly but what would she do? Hannah did that for spiting Coral and it was just a prank. A VERY STUPID PRANK. A joke Destiny had fallen for. Though now she felt soo relieved, it was almost like the sun was gone and cool breezes were back.
"Austin, Say hello to Stephanie."
"Hi, Stephanie", he said, not even looking at her.
"Hey, Steph would be better!", she replied, sitting down to match the kid's height. But it was clear she wasn't saying this to the five-year-old she had just met, she was saying this to Edwin. Indirectly directing it to Edwin, like, hey! Call me Steph.
"You know what? I adore kids!", she said, getting up and looking at Edwin. 'Flirt', Destiny thought. What could Edwin do if she adored kids? How can someone even flirt so indirectly?!
"Sure enough, and kids like Austin are fun!", he said, ruffling the kid's light brown hair.
"High five, Austin!", he said giving him a high-five. Destiny smiled. Whatever it was, Edwin did have a personality of his own, he dealt with kids so well she didn't know a single person with whom Edwin couldn't deal or would have difficulty dealing.
"So will you get up or sit here all day?", he said, snapping Destiny out of her thoughts. And he said that while Stephanie was still there.
"Before you go, MY CANDIES". Kids were tough honestly. She felt pity for whoever Austin's mom was, so much to deal with. HUH. Destiny opened her handbag and pulled out a note,
"Here, you-"
"No, Dez, I'll take care of that!", he said, getting up and taking Austin along. That was sweet. Super duper sweet. But then there was Stephanie who didn't walk a step, instead, she took the chair Edwin had taken. Dez was taken aback.
"Your positive energy made him walk away.", Stephanie said with a sigh. Destiny was trained to remain quiet all along but that day her mouth worked like a bullet, almost reflex.
"Maybe he walked away because of the terrible creepy flirting that you did.", she said, keeping the empty glass of water back on the table with a loud thud and walking away, leaving Stephanie in confusion. Soon the announcements were made to gear up for the photography session, of course, it was mandatory, if you were a model.
